'UTTERLY UNACCEPTABLE' Uber drivers may be banned from posh Surrey neighbourhood amid claims they have been URINATING in public and ‘leering’ at and ‘intimidating’ residents Council threaten to tear up agreement with taxi firm over spaces in Horley car park over string of complaints UBER drivers risk being banned from a posh neighbourhood after claims they have been urinating in public, “leering” and “intimidating” residents. The taxi firm was leased 50 spaces in a car park in Horley, Surrey last year. Reigate and Banstead Borough Council provided drivers with a portable toilet following complaints they were peeing in public. Uber were leased 50 spaces in a car park in Horley, Surrey last year But, after ever more objections and a petition signed by 300 people the authority may tear up their agreement with the firm. Conservative councillor Christian Stevens said: “Many of my residents are concerned that the council has provided parking spaces to Uber in Horley’s High Street car park. “This appears to have led to Uber drivers manipulating the car park and in some cases chasing residents off of what is a public facility. “Additionally, there are reports of drivers not using the Portaloos Uber provided, leering and intimidating residents, leaving their engines running, sleeping in their cars and parking in spaces not marked for them.” Councillor James Durrant, Portfolio Holder for Enforcement, said that some residents felt they had been “chased out of the car park” by the unruly drivers. The council heard that Uber were sending a manager twice a week to ensure drivers were behaving themselves. Mr Durrant added: “Uber drivers found breaking the terms of the contract including parking in non-designated spaces without a valid parking ticket will receive a penalty charge notice. “Uber are expected and required to maintain the toilet and rubbish facilities used by their drivers, soiling or littering in the streets or the car park will not be tolerated. Uber drivers in Horley, Surrey have been accused of urinating in public and intimidating locals “There’s a final option, the council can cancel the contract. A spokesman for Uber said: “We fully agree with councillor Durrant: anti-social behaviour is completely unacceptable and not what we expect from an Uber partner-driver. “We’re putting in place a range of measures to address this and have already reiterated the requirement to comply with the requirements of the car park. “Any partner found to be acting antisocially risks permanently losing access to the Uber app.” The taxi firm recently provoked a storm after revealing it would continue to track your movements while your phone is in your pocket. more to the point what is it with Uber drivers and publicly urinating and defecating they seem to do it where ever they go the rest of us seem to be able to use public toilets why can't they ? |

Even when I am out of my area I don't seem to have any problems finding a pub, a supermarket, a garage, a garden centre, a fast food outlet. There are toilets everywhere if you want to find them. |
