Shocking CCTV of a brazen thief climbing on the wheel of a taxi to peer inside before breaking into the vehicle has emerged online.

The attack is the latest in a spate of similar incidents involving taxis across Birmingham , a senior councillor has warned.

Pictures show a hooded figure quickly getting out of a small blue car and climbing onto the driver’s wheel so he can look inside a minibus taxi for a better look.

After having a good glimpse inside, the man disappeared from view, before returning and smashing the driver’s window.

He is then seen grabbing two sat-navs before jumping back into his own car.

The theft, which happened at around 8am on Friday in the Small Heath area , caused around £600 worth of damage.

A second car - though not a taxi - was also broken into and cash taken in the same area 30 minutes later, police have revealed.

Councillor Majid Mahmood claimed criminals are targeting private hire and Hackney Carriage vehicles across the city.

well if you don't like my way of doing things why don't you take up the mantle and seek out a few stories to post in a vain attempt at increasing traffic then !!
