Parvez Akhtar, 54, banged his wife’s head on a kitchen door in a violent fit of rage before starting a night shift.
The mum-of-four was left lying on the floor with double vision and two lumps on her head.
As his wife of 30 years was being treated by medics, Akhtar reportedly watched TV.

He attacked his wife at 4.30pm by grabbing her hair, throwing her against a door and calling her names.
Consultant neurologists later found she had suffered a stroke as a result of the assault.
‘You sat and watched television as she was taken to hospital in the throes of that stroke developing,’ Judge Jonathan Rose told Akhtar.
‘You are a bully and you are a man who has kept control in your home.’
Akhtar was convicted of a similar offence in 1994 when his wife tried to stop him from hurting a child.
