Around 50 vehicles were stopped and checked during an operation at Aberdeen airport. Police were at the airport to ensure taxi drivers are adhering to the standards and conditions of their licences. Borders Policing joined with officers from the North-east division licensing team to carry out the inspections on taxis and private hire cars dropping passengers off at the airport. Joined by local authority civic enforcement officers, the one-day operation yesterday was part of an ongoing wider initiative across the city to ensure all taxi drivers consistently comply with standards. Sergeant Gill Flett, who organised the operation, said: “Around 19 people were spoken to and advised regarding very minor offences, however we were reassured to find that the vast majority of vehicles were found to be in order and that drivers are adhering to the required standards and conditions of their licences.” |
