nasty This is the dramatic scene when a tree fell on a taxi in Weoley Castle – leaving the driver inches from death. The 35-year-old male driver miraculously escaped serious injury after the huge tree uprooted from a nearby park and smashed on to the bonnet of the silver Mercedes. Building contractor Barry Holloway took the footage and said:”I had popped out to the chippy at about 12.30pm and saw the tree across the taxi. “A couple of workmen said a taxi driver had been driving down the road when the tree came down. “The car was well crushed and the tyres had popped. The wheels were also at a funny angle. “The thing is that there was a trail of petrol from the car which is worrying. A few inches further and the tree would have come down on his roof so he had a lucky escape. A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “ An ambulance came across the scene and saw that the tree had fallen across the taxi and had blocked the road. “The patient complained of pain to the right side of his neck but declined hospital treatment. “He was discharged at the scene.” The silver Mercedes was half buried in the branches of the tree in Shenley Fields Road. West Midlands Fire Service said they had not received any calls to the scene. |

Bit windy down here, other than that it was fine. We are a hardened lot down here, not like Northerners who have flu and colds.
