Cabbie witness soughtA man suffered a broken jaw and had his phone and bank card stolen when he tried to break up a fight in Union Street.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery and assault, which happened at about 1.10am on Thursday, February 2.
The victim, a man in his 20s, approached two men who were arguing in Union Street and told them to calm down.
However, one of the men then punched the attempted peacemaker in the face.
After getting up from the first punch, the victim believes he was hit again and had his mobile phone and bank card taken from him.
The injured man was taken to Derriford Hospital, where they found he had a broken jaw as a result of the attack.
Police are trying to locate a taxi driver of what is thought to be a Hackney Carriage taxi, who took the man to hospital between 1am and 2am.
Police believe the driver may be able to help piece together the events.
