Taxi drivers busting for wee have to wait hours for Debenhams to open so they can relieve themselves Taxi drivers busting for a wee faces three-hour waits for Debenhams to open so they can relieve themselves. Driver John Evans said this is a problem he and colleagues at the rank in Station Road currently base since the toilets were closed at the bus station. A sign has been place on the door of the loos stating they have closed because of 'plumbing issues' – which John said is nonsense. "When I have got to go I have got to go, especially after my first coffee," John said. "They have a list of other toilets with places like Debenhams which doesn't open until 9am. But that is no good to me when I am dying for the toilet at 7am." He said the toilets at the bus station are a lifeline for drivers as many start their shifts from 6am and spend most of their time on the road. John claims there is a distinct lack of toilets Gloucester and says colleagues often pop into pubs and hotels to use their conveniences when they are on their journeys. He said: "It can be rather horrible. Taxi drivers have nowhere to go. But there are in fact elderly people, or anybody, who need to use facilities at the bus station – this is the city with no toilets." The sign at the toilets states: 'Toilets closed, sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. The nearest toilets from here are in Debenhams, Kings Square'. 'The toilets are currently out of use due to some plumbing issues. We are endeavouring to have the problem fixed and reopen the toilets as soon as reasonably practicable. We're currently looking into a long term solution, but in the mean time the toilets in Debenhams and Poppins Café on Clarence Street can be used as they're part of the community toilet scheme."
