UBER are UNFAIR competition because they bend the rules to suit them giving them an unfair competitive advantage

Not sure I agree with that.

Sadly Uber are too big to challenge by gutless councils.

Indeed.

However Uber's downfall will be man made when the money runs out.

Uber are getting customers because they offer the cheapest rides by paying peanuts to its drivers, and then offering free vouchers to those who sign up with them...this is predatory pricing ...same trick used by large supermarkets...who sell basics at cost or below to destroy competition.
Uber don't pay taxes in most countries they operate from...
But things are hotting up...countries like Australia and Canada are making sure they pay their due taxes and some countries are banning them...
In the UK they have lost court cases re drivers being ''employees'' and other matters...
Now we have revelations about our PM and Chancellor cosying up with uber...and there is a possibility of an inquiry....something will stick !
In 7 years of operations they have not made any profits...
Recently many top executives in uber have quit...
Not looking so good.

Thank you Ven. It's nice to know I can post what I like when I like with your permission. I am not surprised your little grey cells are not up to the task of understanding the consequences of many of the longer posts on here, but the older members of the trade that have to persevere with the interruptions made by the likes of Steven Norris, the. OFT and numerous other attempted changes made by the Ministry for Transport which they considered were beneficial for improving the taxi trade, when in fact they were total rubbish. The professional hackney owners and drivers have had to wade through their ill-conceived plans over the last 20 years plus, whilst trying to make a living and then picking up the pieces. You are either a professional taxi driver/owner or like yourself I presume, have no interest in the trade and are just waiting for a "proper job" to come along. Might I suggest a traffic warden.

A number of years ago somebody in government placed the Law Commission squarely on the backs of the taxi/private hire trade. The only real outcome from it was for ph companies to be able to use licenced ph vehicles from different areas, which in turn is the footprint that is needed for a firm like Uber to be able to operate nationally, at what cost. Licencing authorities now have no control as to who can work in their areas. Every time there is bad press, the full time professional drivers have to live with the fall-out, i.e. less money in their pocket. So as the story unfolds we can see who was in a position of power to create the chaos.

Ven - some of us are interested in the taxi trade, we've watched uber break rules, subsidise there fares
buy power and influence. All this has an effect on full time professional drivers, yet in some ways uber has made some of us up out game.

But Uber's end game is total market domination, they're backed by Goldman Sachs, the Saudis, big corporate all wanting to profit from total market domination.

So if no one try's to show them for what they are, everyone would think they're great.
