Boring Reading

Taxi drivers will soon have to complete training to help them protect vulnerable children.

Both hackney carriage and private hire cabbies will have to complete the training on safeguarding children and child sexual exploitation (CSE) as part of a scheme to better protect young people.

Reading Borough Council is inviting all licensed drivers in the town to a limited number of sessions this year. Compulsory sessions will be rolled out in 2018 when the free training is complete.

The scheme is in partnership with Bracknell Forest, Wokingham and West Berkshire councils and once drivers have completed their training they will get a certificate which will be accepted across all four licensing authorities.
