Drivers parking badly in Birmingham is causing mayhem - with one taxi seized for REPEATEDLY parking across pavements.

The Springfield neighbourhood team removed a Solihull registered taxi from Sparkhill on Thursday after saying its driver had repeatedly parked inconsiderately, despite tickets and warnings.

It said in a tweet: “This taxi has repeatedly parked like this, pedestrians having to go on road, despite tickets and warnings he continued, today we took it away.”

A second car was also seized on Avon Street.

@springfieldWMP tweeted; “The 2nd car of the day seized. This vehicle was being used in an anti social manner in Avon Street.

The Springfield neighbourhood team launched a crackdown on inconsiderate parking earlier this year after they were bombarded with complaints from residents.

Cars have been repeatedly pictured parked diagonally blocking pavements, leaving little or no room for pedestrians and more than two dozens tickets were issued in February.

Sergeant Haroon Chughtai, from the Springfield neighbourhood team, previously said: “We appreciate that parking is limited and it can be difficult at times to find a suitable space - however parking across pavements, dropped kerbs or on grass verges is not acceptable or fair.

“We have had complaints that some residents have had to take pushchairs with young children onto the road to get past and we recently had a disabled resident who was unable to leave her house for four hours due to her drive being blocked.”

“Tackling inconsiderate parking is a neighbourhood priority and we are working with our partners and community to educate drivers about the inconvenience it causes and the risk of being ticketed.”
