The Go Green taxi caught fire around 8.30am as it approached the roundabout from the A4130 Abingdon Road.
The blaze caused queues to back up in all directions from the roundabout on the A34 and the A4130.
It is not currently known what caused the fire.
The charred remains of the
Toyota Prius were cleared away by 11am with eye witnesses praising the quick actions of the fire service in dealing with the blaze and traffic returned to normal shortly afterwards.
In a statement, Go Green Taxis said: “As many of you are probably aware, there was an incident this morning [Monday] at the Milton Interchange roundabout involving a Go Green taxi.
“We want to clarify that nobody was hurt or injured in the incident and we thank the fabulous first responders of the police and fire service for getting to the scene so quickly.
“This fire is something that has never happened before and something that we never want to happen again.
“Thanks to well wishers for your kind words and support we’ve received.”
