leafy surreyA woman was stuck inside a taxi and had to be released by firefighters after a crash with a lorry in Dormansland early last Friday morning.
The 46-year-old taxi passenger had to be treated by paramedics at the scene, at Dormans High Street's junction with Newhache opposite Dormansland Baptist Church at about 8.50am.
An air ambulance also arrived at the scene. She was treated for cuts and bruises from the shattered glass after firefighters release the rear door lock, which was jammed.
Both the drivers of the taxi and lorry were treated for shock.
A Surrey Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "I think the private hire was on the High Street and the lorry came out of the side street into it.
"There was considerable damage to the doors, wing and the whole of the left passenger's side of the car. The windows had just popped and shattered over the woman in the back. We didn't have to cut her out as we just un-jammed and released the lock.
"Both drivers seemed in a lot of shock. There was very minor damage to the lorry and it is a working lorry so you can't really tell [because it has marks all over it from general use]."
Two fire engines attended, with Banstead Fire Station's crew receiving support from another from East Grinstead Fire Station. Surrey Police officers were also at the scene.
Emergency services remained at the scene until 10am, while both the lorry driver, aged in his 40s and the taxi driver, aged in his 50s, were treated for shock at the scene.
