novelty car ![]() Lincoln taxi users could soon be turning heads after a local firm was granted a white Lamborghini as its latest hire car. City of Lincoln Council has granted Handsome Cabs a private hire licence for the supercar pictured below. Handsome Cabs, along with City of Lincoln Council have announced that the supercar has been granted a private hire licence. Not your average cab - we’ve granted @HandsomeCabs a private hire licence for a Lamborghini! The Lamborghini is available for one passenger only and will be run on a limited service. To hire the car customers will be charged at a premium rate though it is designed to be a cheaper alternative as supercar transport to weddings and proms normally require hiring the car, rather than being used as a taxi. |

If I got into a Lamborghini I wouldn't be able to climb out. And good luck to the owner going over the speed bumps in the city, and the potholes throughout the county. Interesting to hear them interviewed on Radio Lincolnshire this morning. When asked how much it will cost to hire, the owners said they were still in negotiations with the council. Didn't know the council had any influence over private hire vehicle charges. |

They can't force a PH company to charge a particular rate, however I believe the company has to inform the council of its charges and the council has to approve them.So they can't say what to charge, but they can say yes you can charge that or no you can't !

But even then the Council has no input to what the operator sets as the rate of fare. |

Maybe I'm not explaining it clearly, or I'm wrong ! True the LA can't set PH prices, but it has to approve/accept the proposed fares (??) If they don't approve what you want to charge what then ??? |

If they don't approve what you want to charge what then ??? They cannot approve or refute what a private hire operator wishes to set his rates at,the 1976 Act does not have any sections on approving or refuting private hire fares thus it cannot be involved in any way. |

Correct Sussex, they can also check that it records time and distance accurately. Nothing prevents every PH vehicle, even on the same Office, running at unique pricing. |
