Folkestone taxi driver denies 'asking teenage girl for sex whilst driving her around in his car'

A taxi driver has appeared in court for allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl in his vehicle and asking her for sex.

Appearing at Folkestone Magistrates' Court today, Atif Meer, 27, of Park Road in Folkestone, pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting a female over the age of 16.

The court heard how the victim was under 18-years-old, and the defendant was driving to various locations buying condoms around Folkestone with the girl in his car.

Sarah Worsley, prosecuting, said: "The victim had been in the taxi which the defendant was driving.

The prosecution alleges the taxi driver was

"He was touching her over her clothing, and was taking her to various petrol stations and a Tesco store.

"He said he wanted to have sex with her."

The prosecution said there were several witnesses at a petrol station and petrol store where the victim tried to get their assistance.

The incident is reported to have happened between January 31 and February 1 in Folkestone.

Meer will face trial at Folkestone Magistrates' Court on September 21.

He was granted unconditional bail.
