A man killed in an horrific 5am crash involving a minibus and a Mercedes was a taxi driver, a city cab firm said.

The victim, who had not been named, was killed when a red Mercedes B 220 Sport collided with him as he stood behind the minibus in Goosemoor Lane, at the junction with Kirkwood Avenue in Erdington , on Sunday morning.


Colleagues of the driver, who worked for Erdington’s Galaxy Cars and was in his 40s, described him as a “lovely man” who would “do anything for anyone.”

Police arrested a 49-year-old woman and two 17-year-olds, who were inside the Mercedes, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The crash scene was sealed off on Sunday morning.
