AN UBER driver has been arrested after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted in York.

North Yorkshire Police say officers are investigating a report of sexual assault in Harington Avenue, off Melrosegate, Tang Hall, between 1.35am and 2am on June 23.

A spokesman said a 60-year-old man from the Bradford area had been arrested.

"He has been released under investigation while inquiries continue," said a spokesman.

He added that the alleged victim was being supported by specialist officers.
