By the end of February, Wirral BC should have decided whether or not they will plate the E7. So far, it is looking likely that they will be passed.

There are currently 3 Eurotaxis plated for Wirral, and all 3 are operating just fine.

From the licensing officer:

The Licensing Committee recently decided that the Peugeot E7 is a purpose built hackney carriage and could therefore be licensed. However, members of the Committee asked that a review of the hackney carriage licence conditions be undertaken and that they be brought back to the Committee for approval. Once the conditions are approved, policy in relation to the E7 will be agreed.

In a nutshell, currently only LTI TXIs and TXIIs and Metrocabs can be licensed, but within the next month Peugeot E7s will also be able to be licensed.

At least it will give everyone another option as far as vehicles are concerned.

I suspect that the T&G's Mr Royden will get one, and then go to court to stop everyone else geting one. :-$

Personally, I prefer the TXII, but the E7 is a perfectly good cab and in my opinion, should be plated by every LA.

It is wheelchair accessible, has adequate signage, and in fact has everything a taxi needs... apart from the 'legendary' 25ft turning circle.

I believe that the tight turning circle of the TX is a great benefit, but at the same time, it should be up to drivers if they want it. Drivers who don't want the turning circle should be able to buy other cabs. The E7 has many features that the TX lacks.

It is high time licensing offices passed the E7.

 Well I hope there is a garage that will be set up locally for the E7 repairs,as it is a shambles if not.
We are roughly 90 miles from Glasgow so have to rely on the local dealer, who is only interested in saloon cars and you cannot get the vehicle repaired under warranty right away.
Sometimes they are booked up two weeks in advance.
How the hell can you run a taxi business under these circumstances.
Beware.
