minibus was from Nottingham area Several people have died after a motorway crash involving two lorries and a minibus on the M1 near Newport Pagnell. Thames Valley Police said the vehicles were travelling in the same direction when the collision took place. The minibus is believed to have been travelling from the Nottingham area, the force said. Emergency services were called to the scene at 3.15am on Saturday morning. Four people have been taken to hospital. Two men have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. The southbound carriageway between J15 and J14 is currently closed Chief Inspector Henry Parsons from the Joint Operations Unit for Roads Policing, said: “Emergency services are currently on the scene responding to this collision and road closures are in place. We would ask all motorists to please avoid the area, use alternative routes and await further updates before attempting to travel on this route. We appreciate motorists’ patience while we deal with this serious incident. “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to officers to please contact us. Anyone who has any information which could assist the investigation should call the 24-hour Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101 quoting URN 214 of 26/8.”

Does anyone know if it were a Minibus driven by someone on their car license with non paying customers or a similar sized minibus with a professional trained driver at the wheel and who would have had to pass a more stringent driving test and complete a CPC. It could be either, but it strikes me as odd that you can transport up to 16 passengers on wildly differing levels of driver competence whether it be for Reward or not. |

there are photos on the BBC website of a smashed up fed ex lorry but not of the minibus so can't work out if it was private or public but both lorry drivers arrested and one charged with drink driving

We will find out in time, but what a dreadful incident and so many families suffering big time as I type.

A mate of mine came past around half 8 this morning on his way back to his yard to drop his trailer off, he said it was like something out of a warzone. |

yes they have updated the article to include a picture of the flattened remains of the minibus and they also stated that most of the dead were from a family visiting the UK from India but 3 are in hospital so 11 or 12 in the minibus |

According to Martin Allen of MC Cars in Mansfield the minibus was operated on a restricted PSV licence by ABC Travel. I asked him that question incase it was totally unlicenced or a s19 minibus. |

Rather looks like this poor driver and passengers got caught between a drunk lorry driver stopped in the slow lane and another lorry driver that seen neither the Lorry or the minibus, though why the Minibus driver never saw the stopped lorry we'll never know. |
