Uber will this week begin its appeal of the landmark UK employment case that will test the issue of whether its drivers are workers or self employed. The car-booking app, which lost its licence to operate in London last week, will begin a legal appeal on Wednesday against a high-profile case won by two drivers that ruled they were “workers” and entitled to the minimum wage and holiday pay. Uber has about 40,000 drivers in the UK capital allegedly . After Transport for London’s decision not to renew its licence, the group last week emailed a petition to users asking them “to defend the livelihoods of 40,000 licensed drivers”. which attracted more than 500000 signatures no link and article altered as original site does NOT allow stories to be shared without paying for a license |
