basically Lyft got $1 billion and grab $0.7 billion extra funding presumably because backers think they'll mop up after uber

Lyft are about 20% cheaper than Uber in the USA, so drivers with both apps tend to cover Uber's work first.

Doubt they will be happy to see Lyft mop up Uber.
