A GOOD news story from that city Britannia Taxis surprise disabled victim of "disgusting" McDonald's theft This is the incredible moment a convoy of taxis delivered money and flowers to a severely disabled girl who was the victim of a “disgusting” theft in McDonald’s. About 30 private-hire and black cab drivers turned up to surprise Jodie Lynch at her home in the St Johns estate, Huyton , this morning to “let her family know they had support in the community” after the shocking incident. A purse was stolen from Jodie, 24, in the Huyton Hey Road fast-food restaurant yesterday at about 1.40pm after she left it in a rucksack hanging over the back of her wheelchair while she used the washroom with her carer. Jodie’s mum Debbie said the “appalling” incident left the family “devastated that someone could behave in such away towards their angel”. After seeing the story yesterday cabbies working for Britannia Taxis got in touch with Jodie’s brother and organised to deliver flowers and giver her back double the money that was stolen from her. Jodie Lynch was having lunch in McDonald's in Huyton but as she was using the toilet with her carer her purse was reportedly taken from her bag (Image: Unknown) Robert Aden, a spokesman for Brittania Taxis, told the ECHO: “I saw that it was posted on Facebook last night and someone had asked me if there was anything we could do. “I read through the story and spoke to some of the drivers. “The drivers work around that area and knew Jodie so said they wanted to do something properly for her. “There was about 30 cars that turned up and they were parked all the way down the road. “When they turned up she recognised some of them and was like ‘oh look there is Tony’, it was really moving.” Robert said he went to pick up the flowers from Poppy’s Florist in Page Moss who also donated half the cost of the bouquet given to Jodie. He also said that Britannia Taxis have offered to drive Jodie to the Dogs Trust centre in Knowsley , where she volunteers every Monday, in a taxi for free. The 41-year-old added: “It was just for us to let the family know they do have support in the community.” Police are now appealing for information following the theft of the purse. |
