Stabbed taxi driver staggered up road pleading for help before collapsing after attack

He was reportedly was found collapsed on the street in Moss Side after appearing to have suffered several stab wounds


A taxi driver is in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed in Moss Side last night.

He was reportedly was found collapsed on the street after appearing to have suffered several stab wounds.

The attack happened just after 8pm in Ruskin Avenue.

A neighbour who witnessed the aftermath told the M.E.N. that the taxi driver managed to get out of the car after being attacked to knock on doors pleading for help.

The witness said the man had been stabbed multiple times in the arms and stomach.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Shortly before 8.10pm on Saturday 11 November 2017, police were called to reports that a taxi driver had been stabbed on Ruskin Avenue, Moss Side.

"Emergency services attended and a man was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
"Enquiries are on-going.

"Anybody with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident number 2017 of 11/11/17, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Updated info from police including description.

“Police are appealing for witnesses after a taxi driver was stabbed in Moss Side. Shortly before 8:10pm on Saturday 11 November 2017, police were called to reports that a taxi driver had been stabbed on Ruskin Avenue. “Emergency services attended and the 42-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He remains there for treatment however his injuries are not believed to be life threatening. “Further enquiries have established that the driver had picked up a man on Dickenson Road, Longsight before driving to Ruskin Avenue.
“After the car stopped, the customer began arguing over the cost of the fare before repeatedly stabbing the driver and fleeing the scene. “The offender is described as a slim white man in his mid-20s with dark hair. He was wearing a black coat with a black hoodie underneath with the hood up.”

indeed quite a few stories of manc drivers getting attacked lately

perhaps we should run a liverpool vs manchester tally see who racks up the most stories in the local press :wink:
