One of our drivers has unfortunately died today. We don't know the full details yet but for some reason he has hung himself.
He had been a taxi driver for many, many years and was well liked by all. Needless to say everyone is in complete shock.

Sorry to hear that, my sympathies to you and his family.

Many years ago when I ran a bus company in Mitcham, I employed a lady who was London's first lady bus driver. She was depressed and left home one night and was found later that morning in the River Crane at Twickenham. A sad event, so I know what you're going through. In her case it was an open verdict. Sadly missed by all who knew her.

Very very sad.

In a short time down here a few years back we lost 5 drivers to suicide.

Some wasn't a huge surprised, some a complete and utter shock.

I wonder if the trade is some kind of magnet to people with mental issues, and then the loneliness of the trade makes things worse.

it is not always a mental health issue sometimes people just can't see a future due to financial or relationship difficulties and see it as a way out a release

Not the thread to disagree on, but I suspect the medical professionals would indeed disagree.

so we'll agree to disagree then

seriously though we don't know the circumstances or how much stress the driver was under so to suggest a cause is premature and doing a disservice to the people involved
