One of our drivers in the Scottish Borders was attacked and robed on Saturday night his drivers window was smashed on his Volvo and he was given a kicking and ended up in the hospital, Last we herd was the police had the 2 culprits (ass wips) in custody
This is where getting the money up front comes in, as he was 18 miles away from his base

As long as your mate knows the names and addresses of the scum, then that to me is enough.

I agree, and this sort of instance is the only time a cartel of taxi firms is a good thing.

The problem is these lowlife people get of bye the courts to lightly. The bloody lawyers come up with crap like( mi lord )they had a bad upbringing, they came from a broken home, the mother is a single parent. Ive heard it all before been to court few times to kick these motherf****** in the teeth, it never works they get of with a fine or suspended sentence. Dont get me wrong am a placid guy but ive had over 15years in the taxi trade both ph and hackney. Ha HA now i need to calm down, well now for a few years i have been carrying my personal protection. As my base is not interested who i pick up no panic button nothing. So my police mate told me carry a maglite torch in you car its not a weapon so you can get passed carrying it. So i have the biggest maglite you can buy and it has saved me a few times and its well made now had it over 7years still working Dont get me wrong i dont advocate using violence but i need to protect myself bye all means. This guy was attacked at his place of work we have a right to self protect. My policy is i will protect myself at all costs. Afterall these lowlife no there rights when there in court and get of with a wrap on there knuckles. Well thats my rant hope the guy gets better. Bigyin  :D

I have the very same mate - 6 x D Cell Maglite by my side - as recomended by my "Strathclyde Police Drug Squad" neighbour

Obviously it is there to see house numbers when the street lights are out

Only snag is - bloody £16 to replace the batteries with Duracell Ultra  :)

Well done charlie same as mine but my quick thinking is my pepper spray first which sits beside my door handle not lethal but effective for a couple of minutes. I know not legal, but is what my passenger carrying legal. I will take my chances with the law maybe i will plead i come from family with single parent or was drugged up at the time, might get community service like the low life do.

Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner aerosol - only use it if you mean it  - it is caustic!

Oh and it's legal - you have just forgot to take it in the house and it's in the door pocket so you don't forget at the end of shift.

Policemen neighbours are usefull :D

I'm not preaching, but pepper spray is a bit iffy. It's now classed in the same group as a knife by the powers that be.

Now I would much rather be up in court than dead and buried, but that's something each of us must weigh up.

guy round our way had a very nasty one the other week, 2.30am and he's taking 3 ringpieces home from the local nightclub, gets to the roundabout just before the scheme and is informed that he's not getting paid. The driver tells them he's going to the police station. While driving round the r/about the front passenger reaches out and hauls the steering wheel to the left forcing the car off the road but straight into a tree at the roadside! Que the 3 dickheads opening the doors and fleeing the scene. Local plod takes 45 MINUTES to respond. Luckily the driver is ok, but had to replace his vechile which wasn't worth repairing. Who'd be a cabbie?

problem is the regulating authorities think nothing of cabbies, and everything of customers. Dont get me wrong, i pick up plenty of fantastic folk who are a joy to drive home, however there are some proper halfwits of both sexes, who shouldnt even be classed as humans, more like animals and they the ones that cause the grief.
