Interesting piece from a specialist insurance publication on the Alpha collapse. There was a copyright notice when I tried to copy it, so please visit the site to read it.
Interesting comment below the article about Alpha being an 'unrated' insurer though - unrated seems to mean that its financial strength and status is unknown.
Quote:
Instead of asking the Government and the FSCS to bail out these uninsured motorists, why don't they sue their adviser for using unrated security? Too many people are buying a brand, little realising their policy is often secured by an overseas and in this case, unrated insurer.
https://www.insurancetimes.co.uk/chaoti ... 02.articleAnd I wonder if there are drivers who are now uninsured but unaware of Alpha's collapse? Informing drivers by text doesn't seem the most reliable method, and if they're being sent letters then they could take a few days to arrive.
