Cash was taken from the driver
A taxi driver working in Derby was flanked by three cars before being smashed over the head with a metal bar and robbed of his earnings.
The ambush happened in Douglas Street, near to its junction with Osmaston Road, on Saturday, June 9 at around 7pm.
The driver's car was blocked by a Mercedes and flanked by a BMW and an Audi.
Derbyshire police have said that the group of men, who have been described as Asian, exited the surrounding vehicles and tried to take money via the passenger window.
A spokesperson for Derbyshire police said: "During the struggle that followed, the taxi driver was struck over the head with an object believed to be a metal bar. A quantity of cash was stolen".
Police are seeking witnesses to the event and are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.
