This is an odd one - even if the driver wasn't bothered about the animal, he would have presumably been aware that hitting the deer would damage his vehicle? Suspect he just didn't see it. Appeal to find taxi involved in death of deer on A392 near Newquay https://www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornw ... th-1686361 The animal was struck by vehicles after crossing the road near Quintdown Business Park An appeal has been launched to trace a taxi driver who is believed to have been involved in a crash where a deer was killed in the road. Paul Smith wrote on Facebook to appeal for anyone who may have seen a damaged dark-coloured 7-seater taxi and report it to the police. The incident happened beside Quintdown Business Park on the A392 road between Newquay and Indian Queens on Sunday, June 17, afternoon. Writing immediately after the incident, Mr Smith said: “Everybody keep your eyes open for a dark-coloured 7-seater taxi with fresh damage to the right hand side of its front bumper. “There was a deer trying to cross the road at Quintdown Business Park at 3.15pm. “Everybody else slowed down but this guy kept his foot down and smashed into the deer. He hit it that hard it went under the bumper of oncoming traffic. “He had so much opportunity to avoid it. It’s in a mess and the police are on their way to put it out of its misery. The taxi didn’t brake, slow down or even stop. Absolutely scumbag. The police want a chat them. Dark 7-seater with fresh damage.” |

Deers are unpredictable hazards, you think they are making off in one direction and the next thing is they have turned on a sixpence and are back in front of you again, I'd find it difficult to believe he deliberately sped up to hit it...who know's though, there are some stupid folk out there. |

Living in an area where deer can be a regular hazard I can assure you that they are very volatile unpredictable animals that might jump clear or might run straight into you They have also been known to have a thing about headlights (especially Muntjack) and stand their ground in the middle of the road turning off main and dipped and going to sidelights only usually works but he might have not known that and tried driving at the deer to get it to move |
