Taxi driver caught on phone while driving just yards from Coventry police station

A taxi driver was fined for using his mobile phone while at the wheel of his cab in Coventry.

And to make matters worse for Zakir Shinwari, he committed the crime in Little Park Street - the same road that Coventry police station is on.

The 35-year-old, of Queen Mary's Road, Foleshill, was found guilty of the offence, which was committed on December 12 last year, when he appeared at Coventry Magistrates' Court.

He was fined £360 and also ordered to pay £620 court costs and a £36 victim surcharge.

Magistrates also endorsed with six points on Shinwari's driving licence.

and he now has to see if the council revokes his license
