A taxi driver in Mablethorpe was left bloodied and bruised after he was reportedly assaulted by three masked attackers.

The incident happened around 11.45pm on Monday, July 2, at the entrance to Mablethorpe Caravan and Chalet Park, in Links Avenue.

Police said the taxi driver was in his vehicle when three people in black hoodies and masks ran towards it.

They smashed the driver’s side window and windscreen of the taxi. Police believe they may have used a baseball bat.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson added: “They then used the same weapon to hit the driver on his head several times, before running off.

“The driver suffered bruising, swelling and cuts to the side of his face.

“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who saw the three people in the area either before or after the attack, to contact us.”

Anyone with information can call the force on the non-emergency 101 number.

Some local people claimed the group were part of a gang notorious for crime in the area.

Sheila Billingham posted in the Facebook group ‘Mablethorpe Area Action Group’ that ‘mindless thugs from a known gang attacked this taxi driver’.

She said: “Nothing was stolen, just a violent assault. When is this going to stop? Or are we just becoming a lawless violent town.”

Damage was also done to the taxi which can be seen in Sheila’s pictures.

There have not yet been any arrests in connection with the incident.

This is a better piece for the taxi angle:

Taxi driver attacked by three masked men - who called his office on the RADIO to boast they were beating him up

https://www.lincolnshirelive.co.uk/news ... ed-1747360

A taxi driver was left beaten and bloodied following an attack by three masked thugs - who radioed his office to boast that they were beating him up.

Adam Scandell, 35, was rushed to hospital following the unprovoked assault at around 11.45pm on Monday, July 2 at Mablethorpe Caravan and Chalet Park and is now unsure whether he will return to work following the traumatic incident.

Shockingly, the thugs picked up the radio in the taxi during the attack and contacted the office, saying: “We have got your taxi driver and we are kicking the **** out of him.”

Mr Scandell could also be heard screaming for help.

Garrie Levett, who owns A1 Taxis where Mr Scandell works, told Lincolnshire Live: "We are at the end of our tether.”

“We’ve had enough of the violence. A lot of people around here have.”

He added: “We’ve had problems with Mablethorpe idiots between the ages of 14 and 17 for over two years. It’s cost us thousands.

“Police can’t do anything. They are let out of court with a caution.”

Mr Levett added: “I am disgusted by what has happened.

“They’re a bunch of thugs trying to run Mablethorpe.

“People won’t go out at night because of that. And there are no street lights during night time hours.”

Mr Levett said Mr Scandell's glasses “saved his eye sight”.

“He is battered and bruised and suffering shock,” he told Lincolnshire Live.

The 35-year-old’s windscreen and side window were also smashed during the incident.

“Adam’s blood is all over the car. It’s quite a mess."

The taxi firm owner says his and his employees' livelihoods are being ruined because of the crime in the town.

The attack is the latest in a string of recent violent attacks in the Lincolnshire seaside town, including an attack outside Jester's bar and an assault on a man in his 30s in Victoria Road.

A number of residents told Lincolnshire Live they're becoming fed up with the amount of violence in the town.

“Mablethorpe is a lovely place and seems to be getting blighted by an incident nearly every week now,” said Bobby ‘Mablethorpe’ Baldwin.

“Other than the main concern for people’s safety, it's also going to get Mablethorpe a bad name.

“This man [the taxi driver] has taken me home after many a legless night out and he's a good man as all who know him know.

"Fair enough if blokes want to fight with each other, but leave the nice people out of it.

“This is the man's living, his bread and butter to feed his family and it's not the physical effects but how he will feel driving around unlit streets at night picking strangers up. It’s out of order.

“He's a genuine nice bloke who works hard.”

Sheila Billingham added: “It is a difficult job sometimes being a taxi driver and taking people home safely is our job.

“But when it is getting too dangerous to carry out our job, then something has to be done about it.

“People are complaining how difficult it is to obtain taxis in our town and this will affect it even more.

“It is not only this incident over the last few months. Mablethorpe has become more violent and assaults are now on the increase and it seems to be a small minority of so called 'hard youths’ causing these problems.”

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: "The driver was in his vehicle when three people, all wearing black hoodies and masks, ran towards it.

"They smashed the driver’s side window and windscreen of the taxi, possibly with a baseball bat.

"They then used the same weapon to hit the driver on his head several times, before running off.

"The driver suffered bruising, swelling and cuts to the side of his face."

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who saw the three people in the area either before or after the attack, to contact them.

Location: Stamford Britains prettiest town till SKDC ruined it
welcome to Lincolnshire where the police budget has been slashed repeatedly because they under report crime levels where on a sunday there is one patrol car covering a population of 130000 in an area of over 200 square miles and theft, vandalism shoplifting and drug taking are ignored. Burglaries are only investigated if more than £5000 of stuff taken. But nearly 10 percent of the entire force are involved in an operation to clamp down on hare coursing

Another stabbing in Stamford today (not a taxi driver) but whats the betting it'll be kept out of the papers again
