Toyota say that in the event of no deal they will have to temporarily shut the Burnaston plant because many of the parts come from Europe.
Why should this be a major problem? We will know in the next few weeks if there is a deal or no deal. If it is no deal then we leave next March. How is it not possible for them to re-schedule their parts deliveries so that they carry at least 7 days stock to allow for any customs clearance that may be required? Just in time delivery of parts is a relatively new concept. When I worked at British Leyland in the '70s parts would be in the stores at least a week before they were needed on the assembly line. When I was in charge of building Teleporters and site dumpers at Aveling Barford in the '90s even though the majority of parts were made "in house" they were still made and ready at least a week before they were needed.
It isn't rocket science.

No deal = an extra 98 million bits of paperwork allegedly BMW are doing the same with Cowley

the car manufacturers want Britain to scrap Brexit or agree a very bad deal for the UK which will be a good deal for them

I think it's yet more scaremongering.

What reason would our border control have to delay parts coming in?

I can understand if it's the other way around, as we will have no control on stuff going elsewhere, but the whole point of Brexit is that we can control what comes in, the duty, and the speed of which we allow it in, and from where.

The EU will delay parts from Europe not our border control

Well then Toyota can either source them from the UK (we do make parts here), or from Asia, which would be cheaper than the EU.

And of course all those lost jobs in the EU wont cause those EU governments any problems.

All the EU has done over the last 45 years is to make us reliant on the EU, this was their intention all along, they themselves created project fear to deter leavers and non believers from leaving.

Simple solution, don't buy VW, BMW, Audi or Mercedes. Lets all Drive Hyundai's, KIA's and Nissans. F*ck the Germans who needs them anyway.

As for Toyota, when and if you leave remember to pay back all the money you've had in subsidies over the 20 odd years. No real loss.
