Here we go again

Hint of handbags at dawn about this (or late at night). Funny thing is that the abuser doesn't sound local himself. Then a random black guy appears and takes a swing at him.

Angry 'drunk' man confronts Hull taxi drivers in 'racist' rant

One man filmed what happened

This is the moment a man "racially abuses" taxi drivers in Hull city centre.

The exchange happened in the early hours of the morning outside Hull Paragon Interchange. A taxi driver who was there at the time filmed this footage, shown below.

The man, who does not want to be named, said the "racist" man was calling the taxi drivers "cowards" and telling them to "go back" to their own country.

"The gentleman who was abusing the taxi drivers, he came to get a taxi," the man said. "It is the rules from the council that if you feel somebody is a bit too drunk or looks dodgy to you, you can ask for money upfront. When the driver asked for money upfront from the gentleman, he said he didn’t have any money.

"So the driver said it’s OK you don’t have money, you aren’t going far away, I will drop you off. But while he was talking, he wet his jeans. He peed on his pants when he was talking.

"The taxi driver said 'I will take you without money that’s fine but I cannot carry you because you have peed yourself and there will be loads of people who will be sitting on the seat so sorry I cannot carry you'.

"So because of this he started abusing all of them racially."

The taxi driver, who is 27, said the police were called. "Everybody was really calm as you can see on the video," he said. "Everybody was calm, not reacting.

"He came to punch three of the drivers and he was constantly abusing.

"One of the guys who was passing the station, as you can see on the video, a black gentleman, he thought the guy was abusing him. He tried to throw a punch on him but we stopped him and said don’t fight with him he’s too drunk.

"Later we called the police. The police came and went to speak to the guy and came back to us and said obviously he is out of control but he is too drunk as well.

"Do you want to press charges against him? If you want to press charges against him then we will arrest him. Otherwise we will let him off.

"Some of the drivers said we don’t want to press charges just take him away from here so the coppers took him away."

The taxi driver says he has lived in Hull for about eight or nine years and has been a taxi driver for about four. He says the man was shouting at all of the taxi drivers there that night.

"He was shouting at all of us - ‘you guys are cowards, go back to your own country'," he said. "He started saying 'you don’t deserve [to be] here. You guys are robbing us'.

"One of the taxi drivers said 'why are you doing this we are happy here?' He said 'yeah you will be happy here because you are robbing me, you are robbing my money' and then he started saying 'you guys are cowards to your own country, you should go back to your own country.'"

The taxi driver who filmed the footage last week is from Bangladesh. He said he did not react, only filming what was happening in case it was needed for evidence.

"We are trained to tolerate this kind of stuff," he said. "Nobody was reacting.

"He was trying to get into a taxi and then he came to me and I said I am so sorry gentleman I would have taken you but you have peed yourself so it’s unhygienic to carry you because it is public transport.

"He kicked off because nobody will carry him in this state.

"There was ten or 12 drivers and he was abusing everybody. Every single one of them"

The man said he has been left feeling upset by the incident.

"I’m not angry," he said. "I feel upset because we work all night, we stay awake all night working in the station. Why? Because we want to drop people off home safe to their family and when people come to us like this and start abusing us racially that is quite upsetting."

Well I hope the training is better than the examples of that training on the video.

They should have reported him then just ignored him, unless he became violent or caused damage.

Having banter with a pi**ed up racist is absolutely pointless.
