Private hire driver arrested for allegedly raping a female customer https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/m ... y-15577027 Driver has been struck off immediately while the investigation takes place A private hire driver has been arrested for allegedly raping a female customer. Birmingham City Council's Licensing and Public Protection committee was told today (Wednesday, December 19) that the driver had been struck off immediately while the investigation was on-going. Head of licensing Chris Neville confirmed the alleged incident took place on Monday, November 5 with West Midlands Police arresting the suspect two days later. He said the driver had been bailed with one condition being that he does not operate as a private hire driver. The council was not able to provide any further details due to data protection. Mr Neville confirmed that two other drivers have also had their licences revoked in recent weeks. One driver admitted to enforcement officers that he had been smoking cannabis the previous day. While another driver was axed after police charged him with assault by beating. Their identities have not been disclosed. |
