Taxi for a bad driver! Bad parking in Small Heath leaves pavement blocked https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/m ... g-15593176 Driver from TC Cars LTD parks like this on Malmesbury Road in Small Heath ![]() Image: Birmingham Mail This the astonishing picture of a taxi parked so badly, pedestrians were forced to go into the road. The taxi driver plonked his car diagonally in a narrow space leaving the boot touching a garden wall and the noise sticking out into road. The inconsiderate action meant pedestrians, including the elderly and young, were forced into the road which has cars parked on both sides. The photograph was taken by dad-of-four Sami Ali as he went to see his mother on Malmesbury Road, just off Coventry Road, in Small Heath, on Christmas Eve. He branded the driver as ‘unprofessional’ and said he had to walk the width of three cars to avoid the obstruction. Mr Ali, 36, said: “I was walking down the road just before 10am to visit my mother and I saw the taxi parked like that. It was very bad. I had to go into the road. “People couldn’t walk on the pavement and that’s why I sent the picture to Birmingham Live and Birmingham City Council. “They should respect the rules of the road.” Mr Ali said there were a few more badly parked vehicles on the same road but the taxi driver was caused him the most inconvenience. A spokesman from TC Cars LTD said: “The driver in question will be dealt with accordingly along with our disciplinary procedures. “This is not the expectations we have for our drivers whether they are at work or not, they are still representing our company. “We always strive to help the public, this Christmas we have had a miracle give away for three families who were chosen out of many whom were nominated to us to receive their Christmas on us this year which included gifts for all the family, Christmas dinner and a whooping surprise gift from us to all their family. “We have also had a Christmas advent calendar countdown throughout the December month which has included prizes such as PS4, Xbox, Nintendo switch, vouchers and many more.” Bad parking is a hot topic for West Midlands Police who have led several enforcement drives to tackle drivers who plonk their cars on double yellow lines, crossings, junctions and pavements- endangering the lives of pedestrians and other road users. |

There's a video on the website which shows the issue a bit better. Worst parking ever? Taxi left blocking the pavement in Sparkhill https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/m ... t-15629181 Latest madcap parking on Nansen Road, Sparkhill ![]() Image: Birmingham Mail Taxi for a bad cabbie. This bright blue taxi was spotted parked diagonally across Nansen Road, in Sparkhill, on Thursday and Friday mornings. The council registered cab had been left with its nose just touching the front wall of a house and the back end sticking out in the middle of the road. Pedestrians must navigate wheelie bins and face either squeezing past the taxi’s bumper or head into the path of oncoming traffic. Mothers with pushchairs, those using walking frames or wheelchair users have no option but to go into the road. A passer-by said: “It’s atrocious. It’s not acceptable that the driver has left it straddling over the pavement. “Taxi drivers are meant to be the knights of the road. Pushchairs can’t get past. I understand there are parking issues but that’s dangerous.” Another car is seen in footage parked in an identical manner along the terraced road. The council was informed of the inconsiderate parking but said there are no parking restrictions such as yellow lines on Nansen Road and complaints need to be forwarded to the police. On Christmas Eve, a private hire cab was inconsiderately plonked on Malmesbury Road, just off Coventry Road, in Small Heath. “They should respect the rules of the road.” A spokesman from TC Cars LTD said the driver “will be dealt with accordingly along with our disciplinary procedures.” “This is not the expectations we have for our drivers whether they are at work or not, they are still representing our company”, they added.
