Wonder if this kind of thing is paid for? Certainly reads like advertising copy, although it seems to be in the business section of the newspaper and its website.

Don't know if a picture of the driver *and* his dog is the best kind of marketing for a private hire firm, though. He specifically says he'll welcome pets, which is fair enough, but suspect it might put most people off, thinking dog hairs etc.

Wonder what that dog's on?

JMS TOPGEAR TRAVEL

Father-of-three John Scarlett has swapped warehouse work for wheels with the launch of his own private hire taxi firm.

John, who lives in Sneyd Green, launched JMS TopGear Travel after becoming disillusioned with his former day job.

He took inspiration from his uncle, who used to give lifts to family and friends before he passed away, and was encouraged by his mum to set up his own business.

He said: “I wanted a new challenge, but wasn’t sure what to do.

“My uncle was always taking people to the airport in return for a beer or a box of chocolates, and then mum said well why don’t you do that but properly, and set up your own taxi company?

“I thought about it, put all the plans in place, and just went for it.”

John is fully licenced and DBS checked, and is now taking passengers from North Staffordshire and South Cheshire – including pets.

He added: “It will always be me behind the wheel in my suit and tie so customers will get to know me and build up trust.

“I want them to know I’m honest, reliable and competitively priced, whether it’s an airport run, a regular trip to the shops, or a pick up from the pub.”

Down the line John is planning to expand by buying a mini-bus and employing other drivers.

I wonder if he does sheep herding as a side business

clearly got a lot of business acumen knowing that an airport run can be done for the price of a beer and box of chocolates and i'm sure his customers would love to get covered in dog hairs if his dog regularly rides in his PH car
