12 reports of bad behaviour from Bradford taxi drivers in York https://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/173863 ... s-in-york/ TWELVE complaints were made to Bradford Council about the behaviour of their taxi drivers in York last year. Accusations include a driver being aggressive to binmen, another driving the wrong way down a one-way street and a confrontation between a Bradford Uber driver and a York hackney carriage driver. Most of the complaints were about parking or driving infringements, with eight of the accusations upheld. Wendy Loveday, chair of the York Private Hire Association, said: “If they are not York registered cars they are not going through our seriously high checks. Some of these cars just would not be allowed in York. “They are being driven by people who do not know our streets. If we carry on letting these rogue drivers drive around York, the public is not being protected from them. It’s not just Bradford, it’s all the out of town cars. They don’t seem to care because they are in a different city to the one in which they are registered. “It’s a trade we are really proud of, we have the highest standards and we abide by them. We don’t want people working for the trade who are not going to take care of our vulnerable passengers.” She said out-of-town drivers have been spotted driving in pedestrian areas and driving cars that are in a poor condition. She added that drivers registered in other areas are not allowed to work in York and urged people who see taxi drivers breaking the rules to report it to the council’s public protection team. A spokesman for City of York Council said: “All complaints we receive regarding taxi firms or taxi drivers in York are responded to. “We work with other local authorities and the police to ensure an appropriate response. And if necessary, where there is substantiating evidence and when the offence falls under City of York Council jurisdiction, we will take the appropriate legal action.” A Bradford Council spokesman said: “We take all complaints seriously and each complaint has been dealt with accordingly. |
