Quote: Passenger claims his Uber driver scoffed Greggs and watched TV while behind the wheel Link to passenger's recording https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/no ... d-15741977 Is there anything more satisfying than tucking in to a Greggs sausage roll while laughing along to your favourite TV programme? While some of us might be able to get away with sneaking in a quick pasty and an episode of Geordie Shore at work, one Uber passenger says he was left "terrified" when his driver reportedly did just that at the wheel. Craig discreetly filmed his ride through Newcastle and the footage appears to show a holstered phone streaming a TV show or film. As the apparent in-ride entertainment plays, the driver looks to tuck into his pasty during stationary parts of the journey. Craig said he was baffled and said that he "couldn't believe this was a real taxi driver". He said: "I've just had a rather terrifying Uber drive this morning. "The driver was watching TV and eating a Greggs while driving me from Benwell to the city centre," added Craig. "He was also randomly manically laughing during this. Craig added: "I had to be very careful when filming him obviously, but he made no attempt to hide that he was eating and watching TV." An Uber spokesperson said: "These allegations are totally unacceptable and we are investigating this incident. "There is nothing more important than the safety of the customers and the cities we serve. "We temporarily remove access to the app for drivers under investigation and in these types of circumstances deactivate the account if the allegations are proved true." |

the thing is that the majority of uber drivers and PH drivers grew up in countries with far more relaxed attitudes to road safety it is difficult to get the message across that these things are not acceptable in the UK where we have some of the strictest rules in the world |

I have always been told that enforcement can't be put on the license fees. |

Quote: I have always been told that enforcement can't be put on the license fees. The law is clear, enforcement can be funded via the licensing fees, but there is no law which says it must be funded by licensing fees. |
