Glasgow taxi driver who told parking attendant to 'take a f***' banned

A GLASGOW hackney driver who told a parking attendant to take a f*** after being asked to pay has been hit with a ban.

Feroze Subhani lost the plot after he returned from dropping a parcel off on Blythswood Street and discovered he was facing a ticket.

CCTV footage shown to licensing chiefs showed the black cab driver verbally abusing the attendant including calling her a “b****.”

In a complaint submitted to Glasgow City Council, the parking attendant said: “I was very shocked at his manner”.

The incident occurred in July last year and has resulted in the driver being banned for three weeks.

Mr Subhani’s representative said: “He’s been a taxi driver for nine years and has never previously been before the committee.

“His conduct speaks for itself, he highly accepts what he said. There’s no excuse whatsoever for that conduct.”

He said Mr Subhani believed he had been treated unfairly by the parking attendant.

“He accepts this wasn’t the case now. It is out of character.

“He is the sole breadwinner for his family. Any decision of the committee would have a significant and detrimental impact on him.”

Mr Subhani apologised to the licensing committee, accepting the public expect taxi drivers to behave correctly.

He said: “I’m never ever like this. It was a bad day, very stressful. I’m very sorry.”

His representative added: “Black cab taxi drivers are for many people the face of the city and he accepts he didn’t live up to that standing.”

Before councillors decided to impose the suspension, licensing convener Alex Wilson said: “Quite clearly Mr Subhani was verbally abusive to a parking attendant.

“Parking attendants have one of the hardest jobs in Glasgow, with the amount of abuse they get.

“I do think this is quite a serious matter, we have to make sure drivers adhere to their terms and conditions.

“I’m dismayed by the actions of Mr Subhani.”

And councillor Graham Campbell said: “What makes you think this form of language is appropriate? It was pretty much unprovoked.”

When will people work out it's no good having a rare up with traffic wardens on the street?

Get in the car and drive away, and if you think you have been hard done by there are plenty of legal and administrative ways of dealing with it.

That said, depriving the driver, and his family, of a living for three weeks is a pretty sh** thing the council has done. [-X
