The Uber case is going to the Supreme Court.

However a number of similar cases have already been rejected by the Supreme Court, including one a bit more closer to the way most drivers on circuits work, the Addison Lee case.

Uber's case differs in that they allow drivers to work with whoever they want, whenever they want, so they argue they have no actual control over the drivers. Not something that I agree with but clearly the court wish to hear submissions on that point.

I feel we will all end up with worker status, a status not like normal employed status, but one that will still allow drivers workers rights, such as holiday and sick pay, and employment rights in respect of disciplinary matters.

All we really need is for parliament to actually concentrate on something other than the big B.

I think that the only way a private hire driver can be classified as self employed is that he possesses an OPERATORS license in his own right.
Does not matter who or how many operators he works for,he is taking instructions from them thus he has to be classified as an employee of each and every operator he is taking instructions from.

Thankfully the Higher Courts disagree with you.
