So, on Friday night a Hackney driver is passing through the gay village in manchester and gets flagged down.
He stops to pick up the flagger but is stopped from doing so by 2 police officers who tell him he cannot pick up there because
there is a PH base there.
When the driver argued that he was a Licensed Hackney and could legally pick up anywhere in Manchester...the officers told him he would not be insured as the job was not booked. A bit later one of the cops said ''you're boring me now'' and the other one said ''you're causing an obstruction''.
Fortunately the Driver had a body cam and recorded it.
It has been passed around on twitter and also to the Police and Councillors in Manchester.
I don't know how to post the video here...any help would be good.

A couple of years ago here in Chester, the police launched their Xmas drink drive campaign on one of the busy routes (Hough Green if any one knows it) one of our new drivers (HC) was stopped using the bus lane, the officer informed him he was breaking two laws, not wearing his seatbelt and using the bus lane without a passenger on board! #-o

Unlike photos, you can't post videos directly on here, you can just post a link.

Anyway, I had a look on Twitter, but no sign of it, so can you provide a link or at least some clues as to where the video can be found?

Maybe on Facebook? (Which I avoid like the plague, because I just don't really like it, and the pages never seem to load properly on my laptop for some reason, or at least they take an eternity to load.)

All work has to be booked no matter where you pick up, so the issue is plying.

Case law basically says vehicles can 'rank' on land where the general public don't have automatic rights to be there, and the 'rank' is out of sight of the public road.

This is a slightly more direct link to the video:

https://twitter.com/spkenny67/status/11 ... 2505818112

If like me the video default is for sound to be muted then just hover over the video and the sound icon will appear so you can turn the sound on.

Surely when a premises is open and has a car park the public have automatic right of entry it then falls foul of the law of the land. That is why pubs used to put a chain across their car park entry when closed.

There is a big difference between right of entry and permission to enter.

Examples being Airports and some Railway Stations.

In respect of pub car parks, most of them would be in full view of the public highway, thus would be in breach of the plying rules.
