| Post subject: | fare review |
Our fare review is up before the committee next Thursday. The recommendation is to approve without change. There were 4 objections. One from a Councillor because the new table of fares does not mean that his village will get a better service. One from another operator who wanted the soiling charge increased from £100 to £125 and an extra charge for people with a lot of shopping. The next one proposed a slightly different rate from the proposal. The last one was from 4 drivers who objected because they were not consulted on the new fares and wanted to have a meeting of all drivers to discuss other options but did not offer any other options just demanding that the review be withdrawn. They also say that the increase could damage their trade but I think someone will point out that they don't have to charge it, they can charge less. Strange but as the council have explained in their report, The proposal was advertised in the correct way and that it clearly stated that it was a consultation. The rules for requesting a tariff review here are that 25% of the active trade must agree to put it forward. Nowhere does it say that every driver must be spoken to prior to the request being submitted. If passed they say that it will come into force on July 1st. |
