Wouldn't have bothered with this if I'd realised at first that the taxi aspect of this is just a bit part of the crime spree, but here it is anyway :?

Ian White was jailed for seven years following the violent crime spree last year

A thug held a taxi driver at knifepoint and forced a petrified pensioner to act as his getaway driver before attacking an elderly man and stamping on his dog.

Ian White was caged for seven years following the violent crime spree last year.

A court heart how the 36-year-old ordered a taxi to Cambourne Road - the street he lived on in Hattersley, Tameside - at around 10.20pm on November 12.

During the journey, White pulled out a knife and threatened the driver, before he was eventually dropped off on Buxton Road in Furness Vale, High Peak.

He then flagged down a passing 4x4, and forced the 65-year-old woman drive him away from the scene.

The pensioner dropped him off on nearby Yeardsley Lane - she was not physically hurt during her terrifying ordeal.

Not long afterwards, White went into a pub on Buxton Road where he threatened staff with the knife and caused damage before leaving again.

He then knocked on the door of a nearby house, demanding a taxi be called for him.

But when the owner, a 75-year-old man, refused to order White a cab he forced his way into the property, assaulting the pensioner and stamping on his dog.

He then left the house before being arrested by police in Buxton Road.

White was charged with 16 offences including threats to kill, possession of a bladed article in public, criminal damage, kidnapping, ABH, affray and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

He appeared at Derby Crown Court on May 21 where he pleaded guilty to all offences - other than an attempted robbery which he pleaded guilty to theft from a person.

White was sentenced to seven years in prison.
