Police are investigating several assaults following an allegation of a "racist" attack against a Middlesbrough taxi driver.
Boro Taxis issued a post on Saturday stating a driver had been attacked by a group of customers as he travelled from Grove Hill to South Bank.
But since then, police confirmed it had received "a number" of other reports of assaults in the same area around the same time.
They reportedly all took place on the same night, with photos on social media showing a woman with injuries who was also allegedly a victim.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: "On the evening of Saturday June 15, the police received a number of reports in relation to assaults in the South Bank area.
"Officers are looking into all reports and allegations made and enquiries are ongoing."
Boro Taxis posted a statement on social media after the incident , which left the driver with injuries that needed hospital treatment.
It said: "One of our drivers, going about his work, was last night attacked by customers travelling from the Grove Hill area to South Bank .
"Fortunately, the driver managed to make an emergency call to our control room who then called for police assistance.
"The driver was unable to drive his vehicle and subsequently received hospital treatment for his injuries."
It added: "Boro Cars will be supporting the police with their enquiries and will provide any assistance required.
"Racist abuse, hate crime and assault on drivers will not be tolerated."
