A TAXI firm is backing the first Weymouth and Portland Pride event, which takes place this summer.

A fleet of 90 Weyline taxis and a rainbow minibus being driven around Weymouth are proudly displaying the Pride rainbow flag ahead of the celebration, which runs from Friday, July 26 to Sunday, July 28 in Radipole Park Gardens, Weymouth.

Ian Ferguson, managing director of Weyline Taxis, said: “When the organisers of Weymouth Pride approached me with their idea, I jumped at the chance to get involved. I have always been a massive supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. Things have moved on massively in recent years, but it’s essential to support events like this, especially here in Weymouth. There has never been anything like this here and it’s a great progressive thing for the town to get behind and do.

I could understand a ph firm in somewhere like Brighton supporting such events as it would be a good marketing ploy but I do think we are moving towards a society in which we are promoting the LGBT thing for the sake of it and everyone seems to be keen to jump on the bandwagon

I think you will find gay people are not limited to Brighton edders.and I'm trying to think how to respond to the word 'thing'.
I personally have never seen the difference between heterosexual/homosexual but,in our Jude/Christian society apparently it's not natural.as the father of a gay son I can say to you it is perfectly natural. I am not proud of him being gay I am proud of him stopping smoking!.

You have to remember edders is from south Lincolnshire, where they still have ducking stools to determine whether or not cat loving elderly ladies are witches or not, and they think “wild bill” is a documentary. :lol:

I have nothing against LGBT what I don't get is this obsession of parading and identifying with it as better than non LGBT what is wrong with equality

And jimbo as you well know our end of lincolnshire has always been ahead of the rest of the county in just about everything

If people where that supportive of the gay scene (can't be done with all those letters) then why not just donate to gay charities?

If it's to raise awareness then sponsor the event?

The problem is do the cabs get different signage every month for different charities?
