This is really about the cyclist's conduct, but suspect driver lucky not to face action of some kind.

But presumably his actions considered self defence, although not entirely clear from article.

However, no mention of any licensing repercussions, so who knows? :?

He also admitted having four small bags of cannabis

A cyclist damaged a taxi after accusing the driver of cutting him up during an altercation in Nottingham.

Junior Douglas squared up to the cabbie, who took an iron bar from the boot of his car, Nottingham magistrates heard.

No police action was taken over that part of the incident but Douglas, 29, admitted damaging two windows and part of the bodywork of the car.

Derek St Delroy Brown, mitigating, told the city court: "There are always two sides to every story.

"It is suggested it is a completely unprovoked matter but Mr Douglas was riding a bike and was cut up by the taxi driver. Words were exchanged."

The cabbie drove off and Douglas rode away, only to see the taxi stop again in Orange Gardens, Nottingham. Douglas did not know the driver had reached his home and the pair clashed, the court was told.

Mr Brown said: "The taxi driver went to the boot of the car, pulled out a wrench and struck him on the arm."

He said that Douglas was "clearly provoked and at the time was intoxicated."

Community work for 100 hours was ordered from Douglas of Alfreton Road, Radford. He also admitted having four small bags of cannabis on June 20.

The magistrates ordered the destruction of the drugs. Douglas must pay £170 in prosecution costs and a government surcharge.

Emma Wakefield, prosecuting, said that the driver took a tyre iron out of his car, telling the court: "There was a physical altercation. It is not subject to charge."

She said that the taxi driver's daughter was frightened when the cyclist approached.

Douglas was heard saying: "I am going to beat you up. I am going to have you."

The driver went into his front garden and was planning to get into home. Douglas pulled at the front gate as the cabbie tried to shut it.

Later Douglas damaged two rear windows and broke the plastic cover on the driver's side wing mirror, added Miss Wakefield.

Presiding magistrate David Clarson, who sat with two other JPs, told Douglas: "Clearly you have a history in relation to criminal damage and that doesn't work in your favour. This is another in that category and it aggravates the situation."

As he left court, Douglas said: "Thank you very much. Have a good day."

Almost certainly.

I will also be surprised if it has any effect on his license.

The driver was trying to get away from the incident, he would claim trying to diffuse the situation.

The cyclist was the aggressor, and appears to have previous.
