I wonder if the passenger, when realising both him and the driver was going to be robbed, offered to pay the driver the fare early.

Pregnant taxi passenger describes moment gang of armed youths carried out horrifying attack on driver https://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/news ... nt-3440432 Humberside Police are investigating the incident on Garden Street on Wednesday A pregnant woman has described the terrifying moment that a gang of knife-wielding youths mugged the driver of the taxi she was about to get into and then threatened her. She says they only stopped because one of them realised she was pregnant. It happened on Garden Street on Wednesday night. The gang was made up of both male and female members, who started attacking the taxi driver as his customer was about to get in. They then threatened her with a knife and demanded she hand over everything that she had. The woman, who does not wish to be named, said: "Around six of them were males and three were girls. "I had called for the taxi and as it arrived, I was walking towards the vehicle when a group of people came towards it before I could open the door and started attacking the car and pulling the door open. "They were kicking and hitting the driver, demanding that he hand over his money, which they eventually took. "The driver some how got the door shut, but I was locked out with the gang coming towards me, saying that they wanted what I had on me. They were swearing at me and one of them had a knife. "Strange enough, one of the gang was telling them 'stop, leave her she's pregnant' which stopped the girls from going to jump me as well. But while all this was going on, the others were punching and kicking the taxi and the windscreen. "Then they just walked off like it was a normal thing to do, they didn't even run off they, they just walked towards Ainslie Street and stood outside the boxing gym. "As soon as they moved away a few feet, the driver let me in, and we sat in the vehicle in shock as he rang the police. "Then as we were on the phone to them, we saw the gang trying to stop another car on the street, but I am not sure if they got in. "This town is horrible at the moment, if it doesn't change it will be like London soon. I just can't believe how they still hung around on the street after doing this, it shows that they don't care or think they are above the law." A Humberside Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 10pm on Wednesday, reporting a disturbance on Garden Street in Grimsby . "No one was injured in the incident but we are appealing for witnesses and information.
