Taxis make an estimated 30 million journeys a year in Leeds and a third of them either start or finish in this one place.

According to Leeds Council, 10 million taxi and private hire journeys either start or finish at Leeds Station.

The council shared other interesting facts about taxis in the city.

Leeds has 6513 licensed taxi and private hire drivers.

Around 700 people a year apply to work as a taxi driver and are trained and tested by the council.

Leeds City Council checks around 2000 vehicles a year on the street

So ten million jobs over 365 days is over 27,000 per day, or over 18 hours per day (say) that's about 25 per minute?

25 HC/PHV jobs leaving or arriving at Leeds station every minute?

Sounds a tall order if you ask me - anyone living in the big cities have any stats or guesstimates for this kind of thing?

According to the ORR statistics

leeds city is the 12th busiest station in the UK & in 2017 -2018 had 31.107 million entries and exits but about 10 percent is accounted for by people changing trains

The question is do 37 percent of all passengers arriving and departing Leeds arrive by taxi I very much doubt it
