Not much detail here in terms of how fast he was going etc. Suspect they weren't the most serious of offences, though.

Of course, licensing committee could make this academic, presumably...

Taxi driver spared ban over speeding to save his job

https://www.theargus.co.uk/news/1810489 ... -save-job/

A MOTORIST was spared a driving ban because he is a taxi driver.

Alan Butterfield, 57, twice drove faster than 30mph in Lewes Road, Brighton.

But magistrates agreed he faced “exceptional hardship” and should not face any disqualification, as it would lead to a longer three year taxi driving ban.

Butterfield, of Cowley Drive, Brighton “has always been a driver, it is his only skill” court documents show. He also has “onerous responsibilities” caring for his ex-wife and mother-in-law.

He must pay a £175 fine, £30 surcharge and £85 costs.

The fella was a Lewes licensed driver.

Both Lewes and B&H don't have drivers in front of the licensing committee, officers are delegated those powers.

I hope he doesn't lose his license, as I'm sure he is a nice enough fella who has been given some good free advice.

if she's his ex wife why would he be her carer ? Or do they mean providing for via a divorce settlement ?
