Woman breaks leg after leaning on taxi which drove off in street

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/li ... g-17637480

The driver of the private hire vehicle has not been traced

A woman suffered a broken leg after a city centre private hire taxi she was leaning on drove off and left her in the road.

The young woman in her 20s was injured on December 16, police said today, after leaning on the vehicle on Ranelagh Street at about 4am.

Officers said the driver "made off" while she was balancing on it and this caused her to fall and break her leg.

Since the injury, the woman was in "understandable distress".

The driver of the taxi has not been traced yet, police said.

Roads Policing Inspector Stuart McIver said: “This was a serious incident which left the victim with a broken leg, and has caused her understandable distress.

“So far, our extensive CCTV and witness enquiries have unfortunately proved negative. We’re therefore asking to speak to anyone who was passing or has heard any information since to come forward.

“Other vehicles will have in the area at this time, potentially including other taxis. If you have dashcam, CCTV or other footage and can provide a vehicle registration or anything else, let us know and we will take action.”

The taxi is described as a grey Toyota RAV4, although CCTV and witness enquiries have so far been negative in identifying the vehicle or driver.

Anyone with information is asked to contact @MerPolCC, 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or report online at https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-infor ... nonymously with reference 19100733437.

Parallels here with the above incident. Also another distinctive vehicle - how many white Merc 220 PHVs can there be, even in the whole of Merseyside? Of course, maybe the reason police having trouble tracing the vehicle is becaue it's well out of area - from Yorkshire or Lancashire, say - rather than from Liverpool or one of the Merseyside councils.

Anyway, not much sympathy from me here - seems like the 'victim' left phone as security, but tried to grab it back when he was outside the car and it was moving off

So he got the phone back, and suffered a few cuts and bruises after trying to do a runner - what's he got to moan about?

Teenager dragged down the road by private hire taxi driver after mobile phone payment row

The private hire car, a white Mercedes E220, headed off in the direction of Smithdown Road

An 18-year-old man was dragged down the road by a private hire vehicle in south Liverpool which then made off from the scene.

Police said the teenager was dragged down a short stretch of Greenbank Road after he tried to reach into the Mercedes and take his phone which he had offered in lieu of payment for his journey.

He sustained cuts and bruises and was treated in hospital. He has since been discharged. He managed to recover the phone which fell out of the car.

The incident happened at around 1.20am this morning.

The private hire car, a white Mercedes E220 car, was driven along Greenbank Road in the direction of Smithdown Road.

A police spokesman said to the ECHO: "We are appealing for information after a man was injured during an incident in Greenbank, Liverpool in the early hours of today.

"Police were called at 1.20am to a report an 18-year-old had left his mobile phone with a private hire vehicle driver, in lieu of payment for his journey.

"The man then reached inside the car to take the mobile phone back. At that point it was driven away and as a result, the man was reportedly dragged along the road a short distance.

"He sustained cuts and bruises and was treated in hospital. He has since been discharged.

"The mobile phone was dropped out of the vehicle and was retrieved by the 18-year-old.

"The mobile phone was dropped out of the vehicle and was retrieved by the 18-year-old."

So within just several sentences we're given three different versions of what happened to the phone:

    - he reached in and took it

    - the phone fell out of the car

    - the phone dropped out of the vehicle

If you get dragged down the road you either don't walk for weeks, or you die.

This tale of woe is more than likely a tale of lies.
