we have one or two "bigger" hotels round here which do a lot of weddings balls and parties etc. one in particular always has dozens of P'borough PH sitting outside allegedly waiting for bookings and is so notorious for no pick ups that very few local taxis accept return bookings from there (unfortunately it counts as inside P'borough licensing territory)

I wonder if this is a similar situation with large numbers camping outside waiting to grab party goers who probably couldn't give a monkeys if the car is pre booked or not

I had a look at the hotel's website this morning, and it certainly does do weddings and functions, and looked mid-market-ish, and no sign of a nightclub or disco, so thought it didn't look like kind of place cars would rank, unless it was really huge.

But you could be right, the hotel is maybe a bit bigger than I thought at first, and seems to have separate function/weddings suites, and a restaurant which is adjacent to the pedestrian crossing in the photo.

This is actually the front of the hotel here below, and the rear of it where the crossing is located is, I think, up the narrow road and past the car that's almost in the middle of the view.

Also, the front of the hotel here seems to be some sort of restricted access precinct, which is maybe why the cars rank at the back of the hotel. And the StreetView is stamped 2009, so who knows what other resctrictions may be in place now.

Anway, think I've over-analysed this a bit, so maybe one consequence of Covid-19 and lots of spare time.

But it all sounds very messy, and sounds like cars parked here, there and everywhere.

Get them to pay via credit card in advance.

It's the local nightspot and now the centre of a new outbreak of Pangolin flu !

That beer garden looks rammed no wonder so many caught it !
