Be careful how far you go from home, or you could find your car, number plate and council plate details splattered all over the press 8-[

Worth pointing out, though, that you can't work cross-border in Scotland in the way it's allowed down south.

So must be a lot of complaints like this in England, or are people just so used to seeing cars a long way out-of-area they just don't bat an eyelid?

An investigation has been launched into why a taxi was nearly 300 miles from its base on a tourist route in Sutherland.

Locals in Durness have condemned the North Lanarkshire-registered Seat Toledo, which was on the North West 500.

Tourists have been asked not to travel the route during the coronavirus shutdown.

Don Campbell, chairman of Durness Community Council, said: “What are they playing at?”

Highland councillor Hugh Morrison, who lives in Durness, added: “I have contacted the police. This is not Butlins, we are in the middle of a lockdown.”

The taxi company did not comment yesterday.

North Lanarkshire Council, which licensed the Seat as a private hire vehicle, said: “We will investigate this matter and, if necessary, refer it to Police Scotland.”
